SL023Lamps and lightingGlobe Lantern
Believe it or not it took over ten years for the right globe lantern to show up at auction. That's pouring over dozens of maritime auction books. Christie's, Sotheby's, Bonhams. They found it in London, Kensington, early 2005. It was hand made arround the turn of the century, 1900s. Probably destined for a windjammer, for sailors wanted quality. Hand shaped brass, in the visual center a heavy wire cage protecting the hand blown glass. Has both oil and candle light. Easy change through bottom. Never seen such a solid, heavy, well-made globe lantern before. Our replica does not compromise. You be the judge.... inspect. Lift and appreiate the solid weight. Consider its many applications. 9.75 x 22.5" |
