AR018Architectural Models Obelisk Large, Honey Architectural Model
The true Egyptian obelisk was made from a single block of red granite or similar rock, and its pyramid top was gilded and made as an offering to the sun god Ra for protection of the temple. The Obelisks were erected in pairs at sides of the ceremonial approach to entrance of a temples. . They were usually erected by a Pharaoh to mark the celebration of his jubilee, when he had ruled thirty years. The oldest surviving giant obelisk. (2050-1786 B.C) Bears the inscription "The first occasion of the Jubilee, he made to be given life forever."
