Collectable Model AirplanesIn the year 2000 Authentic Models started building a line of museum quality model airplanes. Airplanes entirely hand made, wooden jointed frames covered with stretched silk fabric, spoke wheels, laminated propellers, leather seats and more. Models of airplanes from the years of early flight, made for the serious airplane collector. Models ranging in size from the a DC-3 desktop to a Sopwith Camel with a 59 inch wingspan. A fascinating exemplary collection of exquisite models of early flight. Meticulously executed, wonderfully detailed mementos from a bygone age. Historic home or office decor.
Even though early planes were often used for military goals, they're now considered lovable and nostalgic. I guess it is a mixture of awe for the courage of the early aviators combined with the endearing aspects of early planes. Multi- winged, held together by wires, loud engines, the whir of wood propellers. Most of all the legendary fearless, noble and chivalrous attitude of early pilots, such as Captain Rickenbacker and the infamous Red Baron, Manfred Von Richthofen.
